Jesus in the Old Testament - Ezra

Big Idea - Acknowledging the Gospel not only saves us, but it also gives us everything we need in a sinful world.
1. Focus on the gospel gives us identity.
Ezra 9:8-9 But now, for a brief moment, grace has come from Yahweh our God to preserve a remnant for us and give us a stake in His holy place. Even in our slavery, God has given us new life and light to our eyes. Though we are slaves, our God has not abandoned us in our slavery. He has extended grace to us in the presence of the Persian kings, giving us new life, so that we can rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem. John 8:33-36 "We are descendants of Abraham," they answered Him, "and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How can You say, 'You will become free' ? " Jesus responded, "I assure you: Everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in the household forever, but a son does remain forever. Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.
2. The focus on the Gospel gives courage
Ezra 1:2 This is what King Cyrus of Persia says: "The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and has appointed me to build Him a house at Jerusalem in Judah.
3. The focus of the Gospel gives restoration
Revelation 21:5 Then the One seated on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words are faithful and true."
Perspective: Realize the Gospel is the most magnificent truth we can know. Heart: Our hearts are restored by the Gospel Personal Praxis: Read every passage in the Bible through the lenses of the Gospel Community Praxis: Interact with each other with the Gospel work in mind. Give grace and understanding.
Ephesians 4:32 And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
